A film a day in 2015, day 6 – Frisson des Collines (2011)

Set in a rural Quebec town in the summer of 1969, Frisson des Collines is the story of 12 year old boy (Antoine Olivier Pilon, star of Xavier Dolan’s Mommy) obsessed with Jimi Hendrix, who wants nothing more than to go to the infamous Woodstock festival in New York. It may be tonally confused at times, but it’s an incredibly sweet, funny, and well-intentioned nostalgia trip that I probably wouldn’t have ever heard of if I weren’t a fan of Evelyne Brochu, who plays Frisson’s teacher in the film. A nice discovery.
