“Why are you playing it stoned?” – Best Actress contenders on first roles, producing, scrutiny, and much more

The Hollywood Reporter continues their excellent yearly roundtables with one from an interesting crop of actresses: Julianne Moore (Still Alice), Laura Dern (Wild), Patricia Arquette (Boyhood), Hilary Swank (The Homesman), Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything), Reese Witherspoon (Wild) and Amy Adams (Big Eyes). Amy Adams has become such a fixture on THR roundtables that, even if none of her performances are in contention next year, I’m going to be asking where she is.

Like many of these discussions, they get into the obligations they feel to tell a story right, which always brings up some interesting stories and points. In addition to that, they get into the very current topic of privacy, embarrassing moments, and much more. It’s well worth the watch.

It’s hard to top last year though. Oprah should moderate every year instead, and Emma Thompson should just always be on the panel.

On another note, under the cut I’ve also included the 2014 Animation roundtable with Bonnie Arnold (How To Train Your Dragon 2), Jorge Gutierrez (The Book of Life), Travis Knight (The Boxtrolls), Tomm Moore (Song of the Sea), Dan Lin (The Lego Movie) and Don Hall (Big Hero 6).
