Today A24 has unveiled another poster for its late-breaking awards contender A Most Violent Year, keeping up the vintage aesthetic. Jeff Wells commented on the 70s-ified look and feel after the first AFI screening, saying that:
I’ve noted before that A Most Violent Year doesn’t feel particularly baity or derby-ish because a 1980s Sidney Lumet crime film doesn’t massage the standards of the softies who want love, comfort and close-to-home reflections about children and family and triumphing over tragedy or adversity, etc. It’s very much a Queens period piece, and is so dyed-in-the-wool New Yorky that it doesn’t particularly speak to our 21st Century zeitgeist.
The film hits cinemas in Australia on February 26 via. Roadshow.
