“What happens when a man stands up and says enough is enough?” – Selma trailer

Prior to its last-minute premiere at AFI Fest last week, Ava DuVernay (Middle of Nowhere)’s Selma (December 25 limited release in the US via. Paramount, February 5 via. StudioCanal in Australia) was one of the final mysteries of awards season. Receiving an overwhelmingly positive consensus when screened, Selma has the potential to be a major Oscar contender.

Today StudioCanal has released the Australian trailer for the film, which is not a traditional biopic of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (played by David Oyelowo) but instead a depiction of a specific moment in time, that is, the marches from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama in 1965. This is being advertised as a much more bolder film than I was expecting.
