“David Fincher just watched television, as far as I could tell.”

If there’s one thing you need to know from the elusive Hollywood Film Awards, an event that is not so much announcing winners from a set of nominees but a PR stop on the publicity awards season trail decided by studio reps, an event where the awardees usually poke fun at the show itself, then just watch this. Gone Girl took out the show’s version of Best Picture, the Hollywood Film Award, and Ben Affleck delivered a spectacular speech that kept up the tradition of being tongue-in-cheek that referenced one of the biggest talking points of the film.

Let’s not forget that last year the awards also gave another chance for the dream team (aka. Julie Delpy, Ethan Hawke, and Richard Linklater) to speak and be hilarious and amazing as usual. There can never be enough of these.
