Classification Update: February 3-7, 2014

Each Monday I’ll be updating you with the latest classification decisions from the Australian Classification Board.

Another slow week, but not without some surprises, the first of which is Roman Polanski’s Venus in Fur, which I saw at BIFF last year and enjoyed, despite it going a bit haywire in parts. It’s nice to see that it found a distributor. Hopefully it arrives soon. In the way of other BIFF films, there is Ginger and Rosa, which played the youth selection, and was slated to receive a theatrical release late last year, but that seems to no longer be the plan, as it was available on a flight I went on a few weeks back, and today there’s a DVD rating.

Another film that played festivals around the country last year was Dom Hemingway, that was featured at Palace’s British Film Festivals, and also seems to be bypassing it’s slated theatrical release with a DVD rating. Additionally, there’s surprise Oscar nominee Dirty Wars; Valentines Day films Winter’s Tale, Endless Love, and Are We Officially Dating? (known as That Awkward Moment in the US), one of which I saw last night and another I’m seeing tonight (I’ll publish my reviews on Thursday); The Lego Movie, which has been receiving rave reviews and a massive first weekend in the US; and a DVD rating for Mistaken for Strangers, which is currently making its way around the country to coincide with The National’s concert tour.
